Erin

by Trisha Thibodeau

Difficulty level: Intermediate. This pattern involves cabling and working in the round.

The idea for a do it yourself sweater boot was suggested to me by my good friend, Erin, who showed me pictures of this hot new craze from a magazine she was browsing through at the time. I went searching online and saw that a pair of these boots could cost upwards of two hundred dollars and so the idea was born. Worked in an Aran weight and accented with cables, these cuffs are a quick knit and will compliment almost any pair of boots.

SIZE
One size, measuring 14 inches in circumference when unstretched. They will stretch to fit a calf circumference of approximately 14 to 18 inches.

Due to the stretchy nature of the ribbed portion, these are designed to fit a wide range of sizes. However, if you wish to resize, go up or down one or two needle sizes when working Inner Ribbed Cuff section of garment.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Calf Circumference approx 14”

MATERIALS
[MC] Brown Sheep Shepherd’s Shades [100% wool; 131yd/120m per 100g skein]; Eggplant, SS 281; 2 skeins.
Shepherd’s Shades is a bulky-weight wool that works well for this project when knit as an aran weight. It is made with 3 strands of 2-ply wool spun together, which gives the finished work amazing stitch definition.
[CC] Phildar Preface [70% wool/30% acrylic; 211yd/193m per 50g skein]; white #102; 1 skein.
Any sock yarn that matches gauge and has good memory can be used as CC.
