It is so exciting to be working on our first issue of metapostmodernknitting.com. We are on schedule to go live on February 1, 2008. Those of you who saw our call for patterns might have noticed that we changed our publication schedule a bit. Rather than follow the model of a traditional magazine, we want to take advantage of the fluidity of the internet. We will publish patterns and other content in the same issue continuously until a new issue is released. Spring/Summer will be released every February and Fall/Winter will be released every August. Rather than marking your calendars to check our site during those two months, come back to visit often. Our goal is to frequently have something new for you.

Metapostmodernknitting.com is obviously not the easiest name to memorize. Give us a nickname if you’d like. MPMK perhaps? You can read about our unusual name, as well as how we came to be, in our “About” section. The group of knitters who started MPMK have access to all kinds of design materials. We have printed, online, and video subscriptions to runway shows, special periodicals called Trend Forecasts or Predictives that forecast the trends about 18 months in advance, and we have a sizeable collection of knitting books and magazines. We are constantly inspired by all of these resources and we want to share our inspiration with you. We know that there are many other knitters who follow the fashion trends and base their creations on them, or buck the trends and come up with artistic creations that set them apart from the mainstream.
