We've all heard that the 80's are coming back, and we may have seen some slouchy boots or oversized sweaters here and there. But Betsy Johnson is channeling the 80's in a big way in her Fall 2008 collection. Betsy (a reader, not Ms. Johnson herself) alerted us to her Fall 2008 collection and told us to check out the "80's influenced clothing like oversized sweater dresses, way-big berets, over-sized knit motifs in exuberant color combos like black and gold. One super-cute trend for all knitters-matching knits and anklets in colors that accent a very primary palette!"
Her whole collection is definitely worth a look, but check out this style in particular:

The oversized sweater with an ironic pattern, the leggings, the grommeted belt, the socks, even the crimped hair... This is the whole 80's package right here, thankfully sans shoulder-pads. It's funny how designers can make us like the trends we thought we hated. I hope you all saved your crimping irons and slouchy boots.
If the 80's aren't your thing, don't worry. There's lots of variety this spring and fall that we'll touch on in future blog posts. Keep up with us on Ravelry too, where we have our own group. Don't miss our next post, in which we challenge you all to create a fashionable or artistic handknit sock. The prize is yarn, and who can pass up free yarn? The challenge will be posted on Monday.
