ELECTROCHOK
by Brittany Wilson
Difficulty: Advanced Beginner. The hood is done in stockinette stitch with some increases, decreases, and a seed stitch and ribbed border. The most difficult technique used in this pattern is the kitchener stitch.
Pattern inspiration: I was looking through Fashion Trendsetter and the fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2009 and was really drawn to the Electrochok section. This hood represents everything that that trend report stated. There is an image of a woman with a hooded jacket hanging on her head, lots of bright colors and lots of graphic/geometric prints. The color pallet is all about having fun and living life. I think that this sporty, lightweight hood/neck warmer really breathes fun and vibrance. It is also a versatile pattern. It can be worn as an outer layer with jeans and a t-shirt in the summer, or as an base layer in the winter when it's extra cold.

MATERIALS
[MC] Plymouth Yarn Dreambaby DK Solid [50% acrylic, 50% nylon; 183 yd per 50g skein]; 108-Red; 1 ball
[CC] Plymouth Yarn Dreambaby DK Solid [50% acrylic, 50% nylon; 183 yd per 50g skein]; 116-Pink; 1 ball
This yarn is really great. It is very smooth and shows stitch definition very well (so it may not be the best for people who suffer from uneven stitching). It doesn't stretch out easily and it is machine washable so care is a breeze.
US Size 6/4.0mm straight needles
stitch markers
2 – 1/2” buttons
Tapestry Needle
GAUGE
20 sts X 28 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch
PATTERN NOTES
Hood is worked from the neck choker section up to the top of the hood. Stitches are then grafted together using kitchener stitch (check here for more information on how to graft stitches).
