Love Nugget

by Rachel “Ivy” Clarke

Difficulty: Intermediate
Techniques used in this pattern are knitting in the round, cabling, and double decreasing.

This pattern was inspired by hats from Burberry’s Fall 2008 runway show. The best part about this hat is that it’s so multi-functional: it can be worn more like a stocking cap, as illustrated in the runway photos, or closer, like a beanie, if you roll up the brim. It is a very nice unisex hat, and looks equally good on men and women. Make one today for someone you love!

SIZE
One size fits many. More advanced knitters can alter the size by adding or subtracting a repeat of 13 sts (8 cable sts and 5 rib sts).
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
15 inch circumference unstretched (to fit head with appox 22” circumference)

MATERIALS
[MC] Cascade Yarns 220 [100% Peruvian highland wool; 220 yd per 100g skein]; color no. 8021; 1 skein.
Cascade 220 is the ultimate workhorse of yarns. The weight and texture is perfect to make the cables stand out. Choosing a light color will also help the cables be more visible. If substitution is necessary, a 100% wool yarn is advised.
